The new WEPED model: the Sonic S Dual
Unmatched performance
The South Korean brand WEPED has unveiled its latest model, the Sonic S Dual, an electric scooter that promises to shake up the market with its innovative design, cutting-edge performance, and state-of-the-art technology, capable of reaching speeds of over 150 km/h. With a price higher than that of many cars, this scooter does not go unnoticed.
An imposing and aerodynamic design
Made of POSCO 6061 aluminum, a reference material in the aerospace industry, the Sonic S Dual stands out with its imposing look and aerodynamic lines. The chassis, the result of a high-precision CNC process, ensures exceptional strength and durability.
At the heart of the Sonic S Dual is a dual BLDC electric motor, capable of developing a power of 8 kW, allowing for lightning acceleration and a top speed of approximately 160 km/h. Brembo Racing brakes provide complete control.
Autonomy and safety
According to the manufacturer, the range is about 280 km, placing this model at the top of the market. Safety is a priority with a hydraulic braking system on both wheels (20 inches), combined with an electric emergency brake. The suspension, consisting of an oil shock absorber in the front and two in the rear, offers limousine-like driving comfort, effectively absorbing terrain irregularities.
The battery, supplied by Samsung SDI, is a high-quality cell with a capacity of 100 Ah, guaranteeing generous range and fast charging. The digital dashboard provides clear and intuitive information on speed, battery, time, and distance traveled.
The WEPED Sonic S Dual weighs 170 kg, is available in a single color, and its price exceeds €15,000, varying by country.
The utility of such an electric scooter?
To be honest, we’re still looking for it. Besides being ahead in terms of technology, one wonders what market WEPED intends to target with this Sonic S Dual model. No doubt that their research efforts leading to such technological feats in terms of speed and range will help develop more accessible mass-market models.
