A new articulated saddle for electric bikes
Designed by international experts
An Australian engineer and a French designer based in Melbourne have developed an innovative saddle, the VabsRider. This saddle, developed by the startup AtaraxyBSC, adapts to the movement of the buttocks during pedaling thanks to a unique joint. The startup is currently collecting expressions of interest before launching production.
Increased comfort for long journeys
On an electric bike, the comfort of the saddle is crucial, especially for long distances. The friction of the posterior on a classic saddle can become very uncomfortable. The VabsRider, subdivided into two mobile parts, stands out from other models available on the market due to its unique design.
Innovative features
The VabsRider saddle consists of two mobile parts that pivot around an axis during pedaling. This design helps to relieve the hamstrings and buttocks. Initially conceived by engineer Robin Macan in 2016, and later perfected with designer Philippe Guichard, the marketable version was realized in collaboration with Melbourne’s Whistle Design Group.
Customizable adjustments
The top view of the VabsRider reveals the rotational axis and the numerous adjustment screws. According to AtaraxyBSC, the saddle allows for individual leg movements, rotating around the hip joints. This distributes pressure from the ischium to the femurs, making the journey more comfortable and less painful. The screws allow for combined front/back, height adjustments, as well as adjustments to the angle and width of the saddle.
For now, the price of the VabsRider has not yet been set. Those who wish to learn more can leave their email on the manufacturer’s website.
