The new electric bike share service from LimeBike
Lower center of gravity, small wheels: the next-generation Lime electric bike share service begins to make its debut before a potential arrival in France.
At Lime, the diversity of vehicles is a priority. In addition to scooters, the company offers various means of transportation, including an electric balance bike, although it is not yet available in France.
A comfortable and accessible electric bike share service
“We have reviewed everything, from the tires to the smartphone holder, to offer better comfort to our users,” says Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime. The main aesthetic difference lies in the 20-inch wheels and the long base frame, combined with a low seat and more ergonomic handles. This electric bike share service is designed to be more practical.
More stable thanks to its low center of gravity, the electric bike is suitable for women and the elderly. The front basket is also lowered for more convenience. Lime has also integrated a seat adjustment with a large lever, similar to Vélib’, making it easier to use. Finally, the wide 2.5-inch tires improve the ride, especially in rainy weather.
The new generation already in the streets
This LimeBike could replace the current model, the Gen4. Developed to last longer and require fewer repairs, this bike is designed for intensive use. Currently, a limited number of these bikes are being tested on the streets of Zurich in Switzerland and Atlanta in the United States.
The cities chosen for these trials include a variant with a throttle, known as the LimeGlider. This feature is not allowed in the European Union. This second model, derived from the 2022 Citra, is pedal-free and closer to an electric scooter than a bike. Unlike the LimeBike, it is unlikely that the LimeGlider will be available in France.
