The Alfa Romeo Junior takes off with a competitive price
Recently highlighted, the brand new Alfa Romeo Junior, formerly known as Milano, has been revealed in terms of pricing and pleasantly surprises with its moderate price. Indeed, the entry-level of this rising star from the Italian manufacturer is announced at a price starting below the symbolic threshold of 30,000 euros.
Electrical transition inevitable for Alfa Romeo
In line with the ambitions of the Stellantis group, Alfa Romeo is integrating the all-electric revolution despite a slower start compared to other manufacturers such as Peugeot and Volkswagen. This evolution is inevitable since Stellantis plans to completely abandon internal combustion engine vehicles by 2030.
Electric at an affordable price
Alfa Romeo aspires to position itself advantageously in the market. After presenting an ultra-limited production with the supercar 33 Stradale, it’s now the turn of the Junior, an attractive compact SUV, to make its debut. The latter shares similarities with the Peugeot e-2008 and the Fiat 600e, and offers an interesting quality-price ratio.
Initially named Milano, the name of the vehicle was changed under pressure from the Italian authorities, given that its production takes place in Poland. Now, the SUV is taking off under the name Junior and is starting its commercialization with the first deliveries expected around September.
The Junior’s pricing starts at 38,500 euros for the base electric version, equipped with a 156 horsepower and 260 Nm torque motor. This powertrain configuration is already well known within the Franco-Italian consortium’s range, as evidenced by the Jeep Avenger and DS 3 E-Tense models. The 54 kWh battery claims a range of 410 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
Rich and varied equipment
The new Alfa Romeo Junior supports fast charging thanks to 100 kW charging stations that allow the vehicle to be charged from 20 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. Moreover, a more powerful 240 horsepower variant is available, reusing the technology from the Fiat 600e Abarth, with an initial price set at 46,900 euros for the Veloce trim.
The SUV also benefits from an ecological bonus of 4,000 euros, in effect until 2027. As for the standard equipment, it is particularly generous. In addition to a 10.1-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, the vehicle also has LED headlights and automatic climate control. For level 2 autonomous driving, the Technica trim will be necessary. A Speciale version, including GPS navigation and 18-inch alloy wheels, is announced starting at 40,500 euros.
