Bajaj Auto plans to launch a CNG motorcycle by 2024
The Indian industrial partner of Triumph, Bajaj Auto, is planning to revolutionize the motorcycle market with the introduction of a compressed natural gas (CNG) model in 2024.
Indeed, Bajaj Auto, already known for the construction of the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X models, aims to make this type of motorcycle as accessible as possible to the general public.
Planned launch after an announcement in 2024:
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Rajiv Bajaj, the managing director of Bajaj Auto, emphasized that the Indian company plans to unveil its first CNG motorcycle model by the end of 2024.
This means that consumers could expect the launch to take place in the course of 2025.
A strategy focused on the diversity of engine capacities:
The Indian motorcycle market is characterized by a preference for different ranges of engine capacities, mainly between 100-125cc and 150-160cc.
Bajaj Auto is targeting these segments to diversify its offering and meet the varied needs of consumers.
The goal is to provide CNG motorcycles corresponding to each cylinder segment in order to create a complete portfolio and not be limited to a single model.
CNG: A clean alternative to fossil fuels:
Compressed Natural Gas or CNG represents a viable option as an alternative fuel to replace fossil energies.
Even though CNG requires the installation of high-pressure tanks, which are often bulkier than traditional gasoline tanks on motorcycles, the advantage lies in the capacity of converting internal combustion vehicles to CNG, which leads to a significant reduction of polluting emissions.
