Schwalbe bets on recycling for its tires
An industry in transformation
A year after the launch of the Green Marathon, Schwalbe is adopting circular economy for a large part of its products. Now, 70% of Schwalbe tires are made with recycled carbon black (rCB). The company thus demonstrates its environmental commitment by transforming its industrial model to reduce its ecological impact.
An extended collection network
Since the presentation of its recycling program at Eurobike 2022, Schwalbe has multiplied initiatives to facilitate the recycling of used tires. The collection network has expanded in Europe, allowing French and Italian cyclists to drop off their old tires at their resellers.
940,000 tires recycled
In April, Schwalbe reached the impressive figure of 940,000 tires recycled. This performance is the direct result of the extension of its recovery network across Europe. Production from rCB saves 80% of CO2 emissions compared to using fossil carbon black, without compromising tire quality.
Application of rCB in various ranges
Schwalbe tires for electric bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes, urban bikes, cargo bikes, and mountain bikes are now made from rCB. Only tires with the ADDIX Ultra Soft rubber compound and Active Line tires have not yet integrated this material. The brand nevertheless assures that it is continuing research to enable the use of rCB across its entire range in the future.
