The Roqu Electric Scooter: A New Player in Urban Mobility
Equipped with an exceptional 1,000 Wh battery and an aesthetic design, the brand new electric scooter from Roqu positions itself as a leading innovation, primarily intended for professional users in the form of fleets.
During the Autonomy 2024 expo in Paris, we discovered Roqu Mobility, a Turkish manufacturer that aims to conquer the European market with its “Unibody” electric scooter model.
Smart Design and Advanced Materials
The “Unibody” scooter stands out for its durability with a monocoque aluminum chassis, a direct legacy of Roqu’s parent company, Menatek, which excels in the defense sector.
This aerodynamic structure is characterized by its uniform deck that reinforces the clean lines of the product.
Its 12-inch front wheel, paired with a smaller 10-inch wheel at the back, ensures safer handling and better stability, supported by turn signals included in a particularly elegant rear design – although their absence on the handlebars surprises more than one.
Power and Safety Suited to Professional Needs
The current model, especially focused on self-service needs and fleets, does not offer a foldable option.
However, it is announced that such a version for individual consumers is on the horizon. Equipped with a 350 W rear motor capable of reaching 816 W for a maximum torque of 28 Nm, this scooter offers considerable performance. With a braking system mixing electronic brake and drum at the front, improvements such as the introduction of a disc brake are foreseeable.
Weighing 34 kg, its design favors durable materials, aiming to best serve a business clientele.
Exceptional Autonomy with a Removable Battery
Even though the current weight of the scooter is partly due to its significant 964 Wh battery, it grants an impressive autonomy of 75 km, an uncommon feature for vehicles of this category.
The removable nature of this battery is a significant asset, although it remains to be seen if this will be maintained in the version intended for the general market.
The possibility of an access hatch controllable via a mobile application, offering geolocation, alarm, and statistical tracking of routes at the same time, also remains a question.
Local Manufacturing and Environmental Benefit
Future customers will undoubtedly appreciate the environmental commitment of Roqu Mobility, which produces its scooter in Turkey, unlike some of its competitors who opt for Asia.
This choice of local manufacturing could influence the decision of consumers concerned about ecology and the sustainability of the products they purchase.
