Rieju advances in the electric scooter market
With the acquisition of Win Life Electric Vehicles, which manufactures the 125 Ray 7.7 electric scooter, Rieju is intensifying its presence in the electric scooter market.
Although electric is still a minority for most major brands, some are progressing faster, like Rieju. The Spanish manufacturer already offers several models, including the small Rieju Nukk and the Rieju e-City, a 125 equivalent that did not fully convince. Now, a new step has been taken with the announcement of the acquisition of Win Life Electric Vehicles’ assets, creator of the Ray brand and the Ray 7.7, a 125cc electric scooter with an original design.
A rationalization strategy
According to the agreement, Rieju will take over the manufacturing of the scooters in Catalonia and will use this industrial platform to develop other models under its own brand. Ray is expected to disappear, and the Ray 7.7 could potentially become the Rieju 7.7, unless another name is decided. This approach will allow the manufacturer to focus on a single brand while benefiting from its well-established distribution network, thus facilitating dissemination and reassuring buyers.
Launch planned for late 2024
The deployment of these new scooters should not be delayed. Rieju plans to launch commercialization in the second half of 2024. Until then, we eagerly await more information on these future models.
