Lucid Motors unveils the prices of the electric SUV Gravity
The American manufacturer Lucid Motors recently announced the price of its new electric SUV, the Gravity. This model starts at $79,900 for the Touring version and positions itself in direct competition with the Tesla Model X.
Overview of the company Lucid Motors
Founded in 2007, Lucid Motors is still not very present in the European market, although it has started selling the Air sedan in some countries such as Germany. The launch of the new SUV Gravity marks an important step for the brand which has recently emerged from financial difficulties.
Features and performance
At its launch, the Gravity model is offered in a single high-end version, the Grand Touring finish, with a starting price of $94,900, around €87,134. This electric SUV stands out with a power exceeding 800 horsepower and a range of 440 miles (about 708 km) according to the American EPA cycle.
The Lucid Air sedan, in the same category, is part of the same performance with 831 horsepower in the Grand Touring version and a range reaching 882 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, thanks to its reduced drag coefficient (Cx of 0.197). The Gravity, on the other hand, has a Cx of 0.24, comparable to that of the Tesla Model X.
Budget options and technical innovations
To meet the expectations of a wider audience, Lucid Motors will offer a more affordable version of the Gravity, the Touring version, with a price starting at $79,900. However, the technical details of this version are yet to be specified, although it could be close to the characteristics of the Lucid Air Touring, which offers 628 horsepower and a WLTP range of 794 kilometers.
The Lucid Gravity is designed as a spacious vehicle measuring five meters long, two meters wide, and 1.65 meters high. Inside, it is equipped with a 34-inch 6K OLED digital panel, combining a touchscreen with a digital dashboard. Compatible with OTA updates, it integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities.
The fast charging technology is a significant advantage, with an 800-volt architecture capable of reaching 900 volts, allowing recovery of 321 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes on a 350 kW terminal. Production of the Lucid Gravity will begin soon and orders will be open in the United States from November 9. The availability date in Europe is yet to be confirmed.
