Cadillac Optiq: An Innovative Electric SUV in the French Market
A Long-Awaited Return of Cadillac in France
Cadillac makes its grand return to France with the new 100% electric Optiq. Since General Motors’ departure in 2017, the American brand had no longer been present in the country. This return is accompanied by another novelty: the electric SUV Lyriq, already available for order.
Technical Specifications of the SUV Optiq
Recently unveiled, the Optiq boasts impressive range and positions itself as a compact car. Inspired by the design of the Lyriq, the Optiq features distinctive LED optics and a smaller, more discreet grille. According to Car News China, the vehicle measures 4.82 meters in length, 1.91 meters in width, and 1.64 meters in height, placing it in direct competition with the Tesla Model Y and the Peugeot e-3008.
A Modern and Technological Interior
The interior of the Optiq stands out with its 33-inch screen offering 9K resolution, even surpassing the Buick Electra E5. The dashboard consists of two screens, one for instrumentation and the other for touch functions, also integrating physical controls for climate control. Compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google services, the Optiq ensures modern and practical connectivity.
Comfort and Practicality
Featuring a wheelbase of 2.95 meters, this SUV promises a spacious cabin that can accommodate five passengers. The trunk offers between 441 and 1362 liters of capacity. The vehicle also includes a panoramic roof and acoustic laminated glass windows, ensuring optimal comfort, supported by the use of recycled fabric for the seats and interior veneers in tulip wood and recycled paper.
Performance and Range
Built on General Motors’ Ultium platform, the Optiq features an 85 kWh battery, allowing for an estimated range between 500 and 550 km according to the European WLTP standard. In just 10 minutes of charging, the vehicle can regain up to 127 km of range. In France, only one configuration will be available, offering 300 horsepower and 481 Nm of torque thanks to two motors. Several driving modes will be available to adapt to different terrains.
Launch and Price
Cadillac will offer two versions of the Optiq: Luxe and Sport. Although the price in France is not yet official, the vehicle is expected to be around 50,000 euros. The first orders should open soon, with production expected to begin by late fall.
