German Innovation for Electric Bike Security: The Hexnut M12
The German brand Hexlox unveils its latest innovation in security for electric bikes: an anti-theft wheel nut.
Designed for e-bikes equipped with a motor located in the rear wheel, this accessory is compatible with many urban e-bikes that use motors from brands such as Mahle, Bafang, and Zehus, to name a few.
Although it does not replace a complete locking device when in a public place, it acts as an additional deterrent against theft.
Enhanced Protection with the Hexnut M12
We have all seen the carcasses of stolen bikes, the frame still locked to a support by a U-lock, but stripped of their wheels.
And while the theft of bicycles in general is on the rise, e-bikes are particularly targeted due to their high value. While many thieves target the batteries, others do not hesitate to take parts of the bike or the entire bike itself.
Hexlox has designed its anti-theft Hexnut M12 nut specifically to address this type of theft. The device aims to prevent the theft of the rear wheel, and therefore the motor of the e-bike.
The anti-theft nut is equipped with an anti-rotation ring and is fixed with a 6mm hexagonal tool, secured with a 6mm stainless steel Hexlox insert. This insert works with magnetic screws: inserted into a magnetic hexagonal screw, it blocks access to the screw, unless you have a specific Hexlox tool.
Statement from Hexlox CEO
Marcus Tonndorf, CEO of Hexlox, shared his enthusiasm at the product launch: “These products fill a gap in our product catalog, especially for e-bike riders. We can finally offer enhanced security for all bikes and all wheels. The focus on OEM production with low minimum order quantities and fast production times is also a strong point for Hexlox.”
