New electric scooters from Decathlon: BTwin SD500E and MD500E
Marketed under the BTwin brand, the new electric scooters SD500E and MD500E from Decathlon are priced at 299 € and 399 € respectively. After conquering the electric bike market, Decathlon tries to catch up in the electric scooter market, dominated by brands like Xiaomi and Segway-Ninebot, by launching these two new models.

Brand change
Decathlon has until now promoted its scooters under the Oxelo brand. From now on, they will be marketed under the name BTwin. This choice is part of the group’s strategy to streamline its brands, as seen with the transition of Riverside VTCs to the Rockrider brand.
Appearance and technical characteristics
The SD500E and MD500E scooters are identical in appearance. Technically, they are equipped with the same front motor developing up to 350 W, compared to the 500 W of the Xiaomi 4 Lite, a direct competitor. Both have 10-inch tubeless tires, a front disc brake system, and a rear motor brake. The monochrome display is integrated into the center of the handlebar.
Battery differences and autonomy
The main difference between the two models lies in battery capacity. The SD500E is equipped with a 5.2 Ah battery offering a claimed range of 25 km, while the MD500E has a 10.4 Ah battery for a range of 35 km. These values are based on a 65 kg user at a speed of 15 km/h in Eco mode. In reality, the range will be rather 15 to 25 km. Smaller batteries make the scooters lighter and therefore more easily transportable. The SD500E weighs 16.2 kg and has a folding system to facilitate transport by car. The weight of the MD500E, not indicated, will naturally be higher.
Availability and promotion
Designed for users measuring between 1.45 m and 1.95 m and supporting up to 100 kg, the scooters are available now on the Decathlon website, priced at 299 € for the BTwin SD500E and 399 € for the BTwin MD500E. On the occasion of the French Days, Decathlon offers a special promotion with €40 vouchers for the purchase of these scooters, valid from September 24 to 30, 2024.
