Two innovative concept-bikes presented by Decathlon and ECAL
A collaboration for a sustainable future
In collaboration with the École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL), Decathlon unveils two unique concept-bikes during Paris Design Week 2024, highlighting new approaches to sustainability and design. These prototypes can be admired until September 14th.
Galva: a model combining durability and lightness
Imagined by Justus Hilfenhaus and Jiahao Huang, this electric bike named Galva uses a steel galvanization process. This material, four times less polluting to produce than aluminum, ensures a durable frame that withstands time. The Galva stands out with a simple structure composed of two thin steel triangles and a multifunctional block combining seat tube, battery compartment, and base of the central motor. Familiar Decathlon components complete this model, which could easily fit into the Riverside electric hybrid bikes range.
E-Venture: an innovative touring bike
The result of the collaboration between Gabriella Duck Garnham, Aurelia Pleyer, and Yichen Wu, the E-Venture is inspired by the Rockrider range. This touring bike with thin tubes and a clean frame is designed to accommodate flexible panniers. The designers’ text highlights that this model uses unused parts from Decathlon’s camping range, including for the battery. This unique textile offers flexible and lightweight storage, ideal for long trips as well as daily commutes.
Prototypes to think about the future
Despite their innovative designs, these electric bikes will not be marketed. They are on display until September 14th in the window of the Decathlon Wagram store, in Paris.
