CATL presents innovative solutions for heavy electric vehicles
High-performance batteries for trucks, buses, and utility vehicles
The Chinese battery manufacturer, CATL, recently unveiled major innovations for electric vehicles. One of them is a battery with a lifespan of over 15 years and 2.8 million kilometers.
Fast charging technologies
At the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, CATL introduced a new battery for commercial vehicles, named Tectrans – T Superfast Charging Edition, capable of recharging to 70% in just 15 minutes. This battery has a capacity ranging from 200 to 600 kWh, and can support a charging power of up to 2,400 kW.
Increased longevity of new batteries
The “Long Life Edition” version of the Tectrans T battery can operate for 15 years and cover 2.8 million kilometers, while maintaining a range of 500 kilometers per charge. This battery also supports battery swapping, a technology offered by some manufacturers like Nio.
Batteries for buses
CATL also launched the Tectrans B battery, designed for electric buses. It has a density of 175 Wh/kg and a warranty of 10 years or 1 million kilometers. It can remain submerged in water for 72 hours without damage and withstands high temperatures well.
Solutions for light utility vehicles
Finally, the Tectrans L battery, dedicated to light utility vehicles, allows for a 4C recharge and offers a maximum capacity of 200 kWh. It provides a range of 500 kilometers and can be used for 8 years or 80,000 kilometers. Two versions are available: Long Range and Superfast Charging Edition.
