Summary
Presentation of the Avatr 06
A partnership between Huawei, battery leader CATL, and automaker Changan gives birth to Avatr. This brand presents its model 06, an electric car that aims to rival the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7. The first visuals were shared on Weibo, revealing a sedan available in a fully electric version or with a range extender.
A distinctive design
The Avatr 06 features a style similar to its predecessors (models 07, 11, and 12), notably recognizable by its headlight design: split into two parts at the front and very thin at the rear. With a length of 4.85 meters (wheelbase of 2.94 meters), a width of 1.96 meters, and a height of 1.45 meters, it positions itself between a Tesla Model 3, a Xiaomi SU7, and a Zeekr 007. No interior images have been revealed, but the brand is known for its distinctive interiors.
Different engine options
Although few technical details have been provided so far, the Avatr 06 is expected to host the engines of the model 07. A 100% electric version with two-wheel drive offering 252 kW (338 hp) or a 4×4 version of 440 kW (590 hp) is anticipated, coupled with an LFP battery (lithium-iron-phosphate) of 82 kWh.
For fans of range extenders, an alternative powertrain is offered: here, a gasoline engine generates energy to power the battery, without direct mechanical action on the wheels. The options vary between a one-engine version of 231 kW (310 hp) and a two-engine version of 362 kW (485 hp).
Battery and range
The newly unveiled Freevoy battery should allow up to 230 km of range according to the Chinese CLTC cycle (approximately 180 to 200 km on the European WLTP standard). By adding the gasoline engine, the total range could reach from 1,050 to 1,100 km CLTC (approximately 890 to 935 km WLTP).
No price has been announced yet. Will Europe see this model? Avatr had planned an entry into the European market in 2023, but silence reigns since then. The increase in customs fees may have slowed this ambition.
