Development of New Models at Ather Electric
The EL and Zenith Platforms
Ather Electric is working on two new electric motorcycle models, each based on a distinct platform. The first, named EL, is a scooter in the advanced stages of development. This model is expected to serve as the foundation for a more affordable and versatile electric scooter.
The second platform, called Zenith, will be used to create electric motorcycles, targeting the 125cc to 300cc market segment.
Interest in Electric Motorcycles Over 200cc
It is interesting to note that the company’s CEO, Tarun Mehta, had shown limited interest a few years ago in manufacturing electric motorcycles equivalent to a maximum of 200cc.
New Battery Technology
In addition to these new models, Ather Electric is developing a new battery platform using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology. This new battery will be intended for future models and should be compatible with some of Ather’s current offerings.
