Progress in the Electric Bike Market
Ananda Opens a New Factory in Vietnam
Signs of recovery in the electric bike market are multiplying. The Chinese manufacturer Ananda has just opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Vietnam to meet the high demand.
Ananda, whose headquarters are in Shanghai, is well known for its motors which equip many electric bikes. They can be found notably on bikes assembled by the Manufacture Française du Cycle and sold under the Nakamura brand at Intersport. During our tests, we encountered these motorizations on models such as the Nakamura Crossover Longtail and the Nakamura E-Summit 950S, as well as on brands like Gaya Compact, Shiftbikes, and Velomad.
In addition to its three factories in China, Ananda continues its expansion with the opening of new production sites. A factory recently opened in Hungary to manage engine refurbishment activities and speed up service times for European consumers.
A Response to Growing Demand
Inaugurated at the end of 2023, the new factory in Vietnam is fully operational and aims to meet the needs of the American and European markets. Located 1.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh, this plant is strategic due to its proximity to component supply points and certification authorities.
“North America and Europe are rapidly expanding markets for us. We had to adapt to meet the demand and not lose market share to competitors,” explains Daniel Zhuo, CEO of Ananda. “This factory in Vietnam is a crucial step in our development. We aim to provide reliable and high-performing motors at competitive prices.”
