Amslod seeking a new momentum for its electric bikes
Last December, the Dutch electric bike manufacturer Amslod suddenly ceased its commercial activities due to financial difficulties. Currently bankrupt, the company is trying to find a solution to continue its operations.
Towards a potential acquisition?
Amslod is not an exception. Several European brands, especially in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, are also experiencing similar crises. An administrator, Ronald Klarus, is tasked with managing the situation and exploring possibilities for a takeover to save the 83 jobs at risk.
According to reports, three entities are interested in acquiring the company, and others may manifest in the coming weeks. Although the details have not yet been disclosed, the administrator seems optimistic about Amslod’s future.
Challenges to overcome
A major issue that Amslod is facing concerns the unpaid salaries of employees for the month of December. This situation arises during a typically festive period, making the context even more worrying.
Moreover, the company has a stock of 4000 bikes, which is a potential asset to attract investors. Despite these positive points, Amslod carries a debt of 20 million euros, although an attempt was made to reduce this burden through a WHOA procedure.
Drastic measures, such as layoffs and store closures, have already been implemented in the past in an effort to restructure the company.
