Acer: a new range of electric bikes for Eurobike 2024
Marked development
Acer, widely recognized for its computers, launched its first electric-assist bike, the ebii, in the spring of 2023. A year later, the Taiwanese manufacturer is not content with this initial success and unveils eight new models, including even a cargo bike.
An improved version: the ebii elite
The range is enriched with the ebii elite, a more powerful version of the initial ebii. Equipped with an aluminum frame and 20-inch wheels with wide 2.2” tires, the new model has a rear hub motor, delivering 50 Nm of torque. It can transport a load thanks to the optional front and rear luggage racks, and uses a Shimano Cues 9-speed transmission.
A fatbike cruiser for relaxed riding
The eNomad-R ST adopts a cruiser style with a raised handlebar and a long saddle, reminiscent of “cafe racer” motorcycles. Equipped with a 50 Nm rear hub motor, this compact fatbike with its 4” tires can ride on various terrains. Its removable 491 Wh battery offers a range of 50 km.
The eNomad-R speedbike from the Predator range
For increased performance, Acer offers the eNomad-R Predator version. Mounted on a high frame, this model offers a Shimano Cues 9-speed transmission, a suspended fork, and a powerful 750 W hub motor delivering 80 Nm of torque. It is a speedbike designed to reach an assisted speed of 45 km/h.
The eCargo-M longtail for families
Acer is also entering the cargo bike segment with the eCargo-M. This compact longtail is designed to transport children, with a total load capacity of 230 kg. Equipped with an 85 Nm Shimano mid-drive motor and a 504 Wh battery, it can travel up to 50 km. A second battery can be added to increase this range.
Traditional urban models: eUrban and eCity
For lovers of urban bikes, Acer offers the eUrban R and eCity M-30 models. The eUrban R is equipped with 28” or 29” wheels, an aluminum frame with an integrated 504 Wh battery, and 9-speed Shimano Altus. The eCity M-30, on the other hand, features an open frame, a 70 Nm Ananda mid-drive motor, and a 70 km range thanks to its 450 Wh battery.
A strategic diversification
With this extensive range, Acer aims to capture a wider audience, although this choice carries the risk of dilution in an already competitive market. The ebii stands out with its unique design and the use of artificial intelligence for assistance, but the prices remain high. The less innovative but potentially more affordable equipment of the other models could play a crucial role in Acer’s strategy to conquer market share.
