Summary
The Accell group faces the challenges of the cycling industry
Accell, a leading figure in the bicycle sector, is currently navigating through troubled waters but manages to stay on course. Despite a 10% drop in revenue in 2023, the company is initiating a rebound thanks to bold strategic choices.
Strategic measures for increased efficiency
To face a difficult economic period, Accell has undertaken several notable initiatives.
By merging two of its sites in Heerenveen, Netherlands, and transferring part of its production to other European facilities, the company aims to reduce its costs and streamline its operations. These efforts have borne fruit, with stock levels returning to a pre-pandemic situation: in November 2024, finished bikes in stock had decreased from 340,000 to 169,000 units. This rationalization has kept losses due to unsold goods low, focusing on recent and attractive models. An increase in sales in their main markets testifies to a recovery in progress.
Financial consolidation for a solid future
Financially, Accell is on the right track thanks to its recapitalization plan scheduled for 2025. This plan, designed to reduce its debt and extend its maturities, aims to ensure the necessary means to invest in new models and increase production.
This strategy is already showing results: Lapierre, one of Accell’s emblematic brands, is now part of the UCI World Tour circuit. The priority for the company is to maintain good financial health while adapting to the conditions of an always hesitant market. Nevertheless, current promising signs announce a prosperous 2025!
