New Wuling Hongguang Mini EV: The Restyled Electric Car
A Modernized Design
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, known as the world’s cheapest electric car, is renewed with a fully restyled version. The design has been completely redesigned, offering a much more modern and rounded appearance than the first version marketed since 2020.
A Possible Arrival in Europe
The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has reached the top of global electric car sales for several months thanks to its very attractive starting price, set at 40,800 yuan (about 5,200 euros). Although the car is currently mainly sold in Asia, the possibility of it arriving in Europe is not excluded. However, its price could be much higher due to customs duties.
Technical Specifications
Despite the restyling, the Mini EV remains a compact car. It is available in 3 and 5-door versions with dimensions of 3.256 meters in length, 1.510 meters in width, and 1.578 meters in height for the 3-door version. The wheelbase is 2.190 meters.
The new Wuling Hongguang Mini EV retains the same platform as the old version with a 30 kW (40 hp) motor, allowing a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The range could be improved thanks to a new, perhaps more aerodynamic design. Although the capacity of the LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to exceed the performance of the old version which offered 215 km of range according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, or about 180 km according to the European WLTP cycle.
The complete technical specifications and the final price will be revealed when this new version is officially released. Meanwhile, the first images reveal a mini car with a significantly more contemporary style.
